Jeffrey's Past Projects

Recently Jeff has been working on a couple of new projects. Everyday he seems to come home with something new to work on. A couple of weeks ago I came home to find Jeff with a flat screen TV completely taken apart and strewn about the entire floor. This conversation followed:

Carly: "What are you doing? and what is that?"

Jeffrey: "Surprise! Look at our new TV! Isn't it awesome?"

Carly: "Where did you get it? and how much was it?"

Jeffrey: "I got from a friend at work and it was free."

Carly: "Why did he give it to you?"

Jeffrey: "My boss found it in the dumpster at work and gave it to my friend, but he didn't want it so he gave it to me."

Carly: "Why was it in the dumpster?"

Jeffrey: "Because the screen is broken, but it still works. I'm just going to replace the screen. Isn't that sweet?? We just got a $600 TV for free!!"



Needless to say, I wasn't quite as excited about it as Jeff was, but as long as it was free I was okay with it.

The next week I come home from work to find the exact same scenario, except this time there were TWO TV's taken apart and strewn about the floor! Jeff had had no luck finding a screen for the first TV online and the manufacturer does not sell them individually, especially to some regular Joe Shmoe (Jeffrey), so he decided to use the ever fabulous radio show Tradio. (For you non-southern utahns out there Tradio is a show where anyone can call in for free and advertise anything they are selling or looking for). Jeff has had much success with Tradio, from selling 2 cars, buying broken down cars, car parts, etc., so why not use it again? He advertised that he was looking for a TV screen or TV of similar make and model and sure enough he gets a call from some guy who has a similar TV, but it's broken. The screen still worked, but the invertor board was bad. Jeff was able to pick up that TV for only $20. Hence, the two TV's strewn about the floor.

To make a long story short, the screen transfer did not work. However, Jeff was able to buy a new invertor board for TV number 2 along with a wall mount and the end result is...............

Now this isn't Jeff's first run-in with dumpster diving. Remember that guitar I told you about that he also found in the dumpster? He's been fixing it up for his cousin Jarod and he's put a lot of hard work and creative genius into it and and it has gone from this:

The old bridge had cracked so he had to replace it with a new one. However, the couldn't put the new bridge where the old one had been because of warped wood or something. He put the new one just above where the old one was, but that left an ugly mess. So to cover up that ugly mess he designed, cut, stained, and glued a piece of extremely thin wood in that spot. He then restrung it with brand new strings and it works great.
