Our first day was spent in Dallas with Jeff's brother Justin and his wife Amanda. They were great hosts and let us crash at their house for the weekend. Thanks guys!
Monday morning we drove to San Antonio and met my family and my uncle's family there. For those who don't know, Jeff served his mission in San Antonio so he was very excited to go back.
Our first stop was the famous Alamo. It is a very special place for Jeff as it was his first and last stop on his mission. We spent time wandering the grounds, touring the inside of the mission, and learning more about what happened there. We also watched the movie that portrays pretty accurately, the battle that took place.
The rest of the night was spent on the riverwalk. We took the riverboat cruise and learned more about the city of San Antonio and had dinner at the most famous restaurant there.
The next day was spent at Sea World! We spent the day watching the shows, riding roller coasters, and learning all about the animals. Somehow Jeff managed to hurt himself before we even made it in the park. He was trying to rescue a little girl's balloons and ended up jumping into a car, setting off the alarm on the car, and cutting his leg on the hitch cover.
On Wednesday we started the day with a session at the San Antonio Temple.
The rest of the day was spent floating down the Guadalupe River in the town of Canyon Lake and visiting some of the families that Jeff taught on his mission.
Our favorite visit was with the Ramos family. The whole family was baptized and is still active in the church today. They didn't know we were coming and they were so excited to see us. They absolutely love Jeff and they were so nice to me.
Thursday we took a long drive to Corpus Christi on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. We toured the USS Lexington, an aircraft carrier that is now a museum. Then we went swimming and boogie boarding in the Gulf.
That night we spent the night at Utopia on the River, a small bed and breakfast that Jeff had always wanted to stay in since his mission. It was so cute and so fun. We were one of two couples there, but it was still really fun.
The largest Cyprus Tree in Texas! It's HUGE!!Most of Friday was spent in the car as we drove back to Dallas. We spent one more night at Justin and Amanda's, hung out with them the next day, and then flew home Saturday night.
That's our trip in a whirlwind!
